CNN Reports: Internet usage increases, User's trust decreases

CNN is citing a Census Bureau report using 2003 data that internet usage has increased nearly three times since 1997, and also cites a Consumer Reports Webwatch report surveying nearly 1500 people on their sentiments of using the web. According to CNN, a Census Bureau report using 2003 data cites nearly 55% of all American households use the internet, and increase of nearly 3 times that amount from 1997. According to the report issued by Consumer Reports Webwatch - a grant-funded project of Consumers Union, the non-profit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine - 86% of all internet users have \\\"changed their behavior online to protect themselves\\\". Included in this report are stats that 53% of web users have stopped giving out personal information over the internet, and 4 of 5 users on the web are concerned that someone could \\\"steal their identity from information on the internet\\\" However, the Consumer Reports Webwatch is reporting that persons conducting business online using a credit card has increassed from 62% in 2002 to 74% in the past twelve months.
